Pirelli announces tyre choices USA Grand Prix

Published on 23 October 2019 by Mike Motilall

Pirelli, Formula 1’s sole tyre supllier, have announced the tyre choices the respective teams have made for the USA Grand Prix. On the 5,513 meter long Circuit of the Americas, the teams have at their disposal the C2-, C3- and C4-tyres, respectively striped white, yellow and red.

The top teams have almost no difference in their selection of tyres. Leclerc has gone for nine sets instead of eight of the soft compound. Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel have opted for an additional set of the hards, but it’s very unlikely that this compound will be used much.

Both Renault drivers, Nico Hülkenberg and Daniel Ricciardo, have gone for the most aggressive approach as they have selected no less than ten sets of the softs. It’s anyone’s guess how that will work out for the French squad, because the Texan track in Austin is known to be very demanding on the tyres.
