Pirelli announces tyre choices Mexican Grand Prix

Published on 15 October 2019 by Mike Motilall

Pirelli, Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier, have announced the tyre choices the respective teams have made for the Mexican Grand Prix. On the 4,304 meter long Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, the teams have at their disposal the C2-, C3- and C4-tyre compounds. Which are respectively marked white, yellow and red.

Four teams, including Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, have gone for the most aggressive approach as they have selected no less than nine sets of the softs. Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon have also selected three sets of the medium rubber and one set of the hards. Both Daniel Ricciardo and Robert Kubica will have to make do with just two sets of the mediums.

Mercedes, Ferrari and Toro Rosso also have all opted for a more reserved strategy. The three teams will bring along only seven sets of the red striped tyre resulting in them having more sets of the mediums (four and even five) at their disposal. McLaren, Racing Point and Alfa Romeo have gone for a more middle of the road option as they will be taking with them eight sets of the red C4-tyre to Mexico City.
