Pirelli announces tyre choices Italian Grand Prix

Published on 27 August 2019 by Mike Motilall

Pirelli, Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier, have announced the tyre choices the teams have made for the Italian Grand Prix. During the race weekend in Monza, the teams have at their disposal the C2, C3 and C4-tyres, respectively striped white, yellow and red.

Striking is that Max Verstappen, together with the Racing Point’s drivers, have gone for the most aggressive strategy. The three of them have no less than ten sets of the softest compound tyre for the penultimate race on European soil. As oppose to Mercedes and Ferrari, who have gone for only eight sets of the softs. The rest of the field has nine sets of the red-striped tyre at their disposal.

Valtteri Bottas and Sebastian Vettel are the only ones with four sets of the mediums. Their team mates have opted for an extra set of the harder tyre. Furthermore, it is noticeable that only at McLaren and Racing Point both drivers have the same strategy. At the other teams, the rest of the drivers have different strategies.
