Pirelli announces tyre choices Austrian Grand Prix

Published on 18 June 2019 by Mike Motilall

Pirelli, Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier, has announced  the tyre choices the respective teams have made for the Austrian Grand Prix. During the race weekend on the Red Bull Ring, the teams will have at their disposal the C2, C3 and C4 compounds. The C2 (the hardest compound) is recognizable by the white striping. While the C3 (medium) and C4 (soft) are respectively yellow and red.

Ferrari’s selection of tyres can be called, together with Racing Point’s, the most reserved. They have gone for only seven sets of the soft compound tyre. Moreover, Charles Leclerc has the most medium tyres to his name, no less than five sets. Max Verstappen and the McLaren drivers are the only ones with just eight sets. The Dutchman has also opted to run on four sets of the mediums and one set of the harder compound. Team mate Pierre Gasly has gone for nine sets of the softest compound, just like the rest of the other drivers.
