Toro Rosso leading the charge in Barcelona on Thursday morning

Published on 21 February 2019 by Mike Motilall

Alexander Albon topped the leaderboard Thursday morning in Barcelona in his Honda-driven Toro Rosso with a 1:17.637. However, Ferrari running Charles Leclerc was the most productive driver with 75 laps to his name. The Monégasque finished fourth (1:18.046).

On this final day of the first week of testing, naturally Pierre Gasly took part on behalf of Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. The Frenchman lapped the track 52 times and came home in seventh (1:19.495).

All eyes were fixed on Robert Kubica this morning, who made it to the track for the first time this year in the Williams FW42. The seasoned Pole finished the day in tenth and at the bottom of the board. Seeing that Williams only got their car out on track just yesterday afternoon, that was no surprise.

Lando Norris managed to claim some attention as well. When exiting turn five, he made it into the gravel trap and triggered a code red. The McLaren-driver eventually did set the eight fastest time with 48 laps to his name.

Mercedes-driver Lewis Hamilton, topped the board around 11.30 in the morning when he did his personal best, a 1:17.977. Daniel Ricciardo bettered that half an hour later in his Renault, on the C5-tyres, with a 1:17.785. At 12.30, half an hour before lunch, Albon takes the cake by setting the fastest lap time of the morning session, on the softest compound as well.
