Max after the season: “Looking forward to ‘bitterballen’ and ‘friet speciaal’”

Published on 27 November 2017 by Mike Motilall

Max Verstappen finished his final race of the season in the same spot he started the season’s opener in Melbourne: P5. After the race, the fast Dutchman was by no means unhappy. “I was positively surprised by the pace we had and even the balance was a bit better. That was positive. But you cannot really overtake here. You get within a second and then it’s over.”

On Monday evening, one day after the race, Max looks back at the race in Abu Dhabi and the 2017 season in Peptalk on Ziggo Sport. Now that the season is over, doesn’t mean that he’ll be off for some well needed holiday. On Skype he says: “We still need to do some testing here and then there are some more PR-things which will keep me busy for quite some time. And after that some time off I think.”

There isn’t much information to share this time round. However, quite remarkable is the question what he is looking forward to the most after the season. Max’ answer: “Food, during the season I am on a diet, so now I can eat a bit more and I am really looking forward to ‘bitterballen’ (a typical ball-shaped Dutch snack, with almost a croquette like filling) and ‘friet speciaal’ (French fries with mayonaise, curry (ketchup) and diced onions).”
