Pirelli announces tyre choices for British GP

Pirelli, Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier, has announced the tyre choices for the British Grand Prix, which will take place the weekend after the Austrian Grand Prix. At Silverstone, the drivers will have the mediums, the softs and the super-softs at their disposal.

As we have seen so far this season, McLaren has once again gone for a more aggressive approach, with no less than ten sets of the super-soft compound tyre, two sets of the softs and one set of the mediums. Daniil Kvyat has also gone for the same selection of tyres.

Lewis Hamilton’s choice of tyres is striking as he has selected the most set of softs as oppose to the rest of the drivers, notably six sets.

At Red Bull Racing there is no explicit choice of tyres. Max Verstappen and team mate Daniel Ricciardo both will run on one set of the mediums, four sets of the softs and eight sets of the super-softs.

Something that does stand out is the fact that Valtteri Bottas, Romain Grosjean and both Force India-drivers all have opted for two sets of the medium compound tyres, while the rest of the field only has one set of this compound at their disposal.
