Max ventures out on thin ice

The Formula 1 will not only be present this year in Austria at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg during the first week of July. On Wednesday, January 13th, prior to the down hill of the Hahnenkamm in Kitzbühel, no one other than Max Verstappen is headlining a spectacular Formula 1-demonstration in the snow.

Every year in January, the cream of the crop in skiing, gathers to descend the Hahnenkamm, making this event the most important down hill of the season. The competition is held since 1931, but has been interrupted for a longer period due to World War II.

With the announcement of the Formula 1-demonstration, probably in a Red Bull RB7 or RB8, the young Dutchman follows the footsteps of Nick Heidfeld and Sébastien Buemi. Both have previously made tracks in a Formula 1-car on snowy and frozen surfaces. Heidfeld did this in 2007 in a BMW-Sauber on a frozen lake in St. Moritz. Buemi drove some circles on ice in a Red Bull RB5 in 2010 in Canada. To make this possible, the tyres were fitted with spykes, also the engine mapping and transmission ratios of the gearbox were adjusted.
