Jos tested the new Tyrrell again this morning in the second day of the three day Tyrrell test session in Barcelona. This time Jos had a best lap time of 1:22.6, a 3 second improvement over yesterday. Jos tried to cover a complete race distance but the car suffered some minor technical problems. Toranosuke Takagi had his chance this afternoon to try the Tyrrell. Toro had a best lap time of 1:25.0 in good weather conditions. Tomorrow Mika Salo will be testing the new car.

Visitors of the Dutch Auto Rai, a car exhibition held in Amsterdam from February 6 to 16, will have a chance to meet Jos. Jos will appear for several hours at the stand of F1 Racing on Friday and Saturday, 14 and 15 February. He might show up on other days too but this is not guaranteed. Jos will certainly not appear the first weekend because he will then be testing the Tyrrell in Jerez, Portugal.

Williams will continue to use Renault technology in 1998 and 1999. Williams has signed a contract with Mecachrome, a French company and a Renault partner for 22 years. Mecachrome, specialized in assembling an tuning of F1 engines, will be using Renault know-how to develop an engine under its own name. This was all announced today by Patrick Faure, head of Renault Sport.
