"Clarify things then we'll continue talking"

Published on 17 January 2004 by Huub Rothengatter

We have just spoken with Jos Verstappen's management team concerning the facts about Jos and Jordan. It is completely untrue that there is an ultimatum with Jordan for signing a contract. One thing is for certain: Michel Perridon, who is still in the US for business, wants to see 'certain criteria' fullfilled on which a constructive discussion will follow where a sponsor deal will be negotiated. If those criteria are met Jos's management will set up a meeting where things will be discussed. This meeting should take place at Jordan HQ in England on Tuesday.

Jordan has been put under pressure but it has nothing to do with a contract. If Jordan doesn't react on Perridon's request Trust's MD will discontinue any negotiations. If that discussion does take place a deal could be sealed pretty soon.

It won't be until after the weekend when Eddie Jordan and Michel Perridon will continue their talks. Eddie Jordan has phoned Jos's sponsors on Firday evening. It was because Jordan was in the F1 meeting at Heathrow all day and on Saturday he has his shareholders meeting. He will respond after the weekend to clarify some essential matters. If this will be positive another meeting will be planned to dot the i's and cross the t's.
