Cold start for Jos

Published on 01 January 2003 by Huub Rothengatter

Jos Verstappen spent New Year's Eve in a cold Norway. Last week his family and Raymond Vermeulens' left for a short skiing holiday. This Friday they are returning.

It is very cold in Norway, the temperature is about -25 degrees Celsius but it feels even colder. Standing still on the ski piste equals an impersonation of an ice pop, so they are constantly in motion. Only Jos and Sophie are on the skis, their children Max and Victoria prefer sledging. So Jos wasted a good amount of Euros to get Max into skiing last week. Max said: "A sledge is much faster and is not as difficult as skiing". That is enough logic to convince Jos.

Jos and Sophie, well wrapped

Despite that the days in Norway are just as long as over here they seem to be a bit short. Daylight starts at 9.30am and darkness sets in at 4pm. This is why all of them join together (incl. Michael Schumacher and family) in one of the chalets to talk and play boardgames. They mostly talk about Formula 1 and very extensively. Mainly about the changes in the FIA rules which are quite major. "I assume they apply to me as well" Jos adds jokingly and continues "we are still very positive, but that has been said quite a few times".

Jos Vestappen, Raymond Vermeulen and their families would like to wish all Jos Verstappen fans a very good and healthy 2003.
