Canadian Tobacco firm Player's has declared that it might have to cancel its auto racing program if the Canadian government signs a bill, which has already passed both Houses of Parliament, which will control Tobacco advertisement. The racing program will be in jeopardy, according to the company. The Indycar drivers will be the first to be hit by this. The Canadian Grand Prix is also sponsored by Player's.

Dutch and Belgian Formula 1 fans will have an extra channel to watch F1 racing starting with the Monaco Grand Prix. From this Grand Prix onwards pay-TV channel Filmnet will broadcast the trainings, warm-up and Grand Prix live. Commentator will be Ronald van Dam. Filmnet is owned by French company Canal+, sponsor of the Prost team.
