Max reviews Spa: “Everyone learns from it”

Published on 30 August 2016 by Niels Hendrix

Max Verstappen started his Belgian Grand Prix-weekend very well. Looking back the Red Bull Racing driver reflects: “I think it was a good weekend, very positive in general: the speed was there and the car was working great. On top of that, to see so many fans at my home track, was incredible. I didn’t expect that, they were a great motivation and really cheering me on. I was really happy to give them a good result on Saturday. That was a great feeling.”

Unfortunately the race on Sunday didn’t work out that well. Following an incident in the first corner with both Ferrari’s, Max had a difficult race. The Dutchman says: “Going into the race of course we all expected more. After turn one basically my chances were gone. I had a lot of damage to the car as well. After all that, to still see the enthusiastic fans, was a good feeling and it gave me a good motivation to do the best possible job.”

Max concludes: “Unfortunately no points in Spa. I think we all expected a much better result, but sometimes you have those weekends. I think everyone involved learns from it. From now on we have to focus on Monza, where we try to do a very good job and hopefully can get some points.”
